Review of 4 of the Best Commercial Coffee Grinders

4. Rancilio HSD-ROC-SD Rocky Coffee Grinder

Author Rating: (4.4 / 5)

You know what drove me absolutely nuts about my last coffee grinder? That awful, loud, buzzing sound when you turned it on. Luckily, the HSD-ROC-SD Rocky from Rancilio does none of that and comes with a quiet operation motor that’s much more pleasant to the ears.

Just because it doesn’t roar, it doesn’t mean that the motor is not a beast. In fact, it’s pretty powerful with 166 watts.

Other features I liked?  The really simple grinder adjustment control and how you can grind directly into the portafilter – both of which made preparing coffee much less of a chore.

This machine is somewhere in the middle of the market when it comes to price. Not the cheapest out there, but certainly not the most expensive (as you’ll see later!).

This is a top quality coffee grinder that continues to deliver a consistent grind.

3.  Capresso 565.04 Infinity Burr Grinder, Brushed Chrome

Author Rating:  (4.4 / 5)

The pros: the Capresso 565.04 Infinity Burr Grinder is a LOT cheaper than the Rancilio HSD-ROC-SD .

The cons: I found it lacking when it came to aesthetics (it’s a pretty basic design in my opinion).

However, you get what you pay for – 16 different grind settings which do the job pretty well; easy to clean; and commercial-grade burrs that maximize aroma and flavor.

If you’ve never used a coffee grinder before, or don’t think you’ll be using one that regularly, then you might want to go for this product.

Here is a coffee grinder that can grind coffee the way you like it.

It doesn’t hold a candle to our #2 though when it comes to features and design, in our view at least.

2. Baratza Forte BG (Brew Grinder) – Flat Steel Burr Coffee Grinder (with Bin only)

Author Rating:  (5 / 5)

First up, let’s talk about the white elephant in the room – the price. Yes, the Baratza Forte BG (Brew Grinder) – Flat Steel Burr Coffee Grinder (with Bin only) is expensive, definitely coming in at the higher end of the market, but if you want a product that is jam-packed full of features and operates at an excellent standard, this is the machine for you. And if you are looking for a commercial coffee grinder, to supplement your commercial espresso machine, then you can definitely justify the investment.

It comes with a 54 mm burr made from flat steel, as well as a grounds bin and is compact, lightweight, and attractive in design.

There are loads of brewing methods to choose from, and you can even dose by time or weight.

I really loved the touch activation LED screen, and there are enough programmable presets to keep you entertained for a while.

Customer feedback has been glowing.

This grinder gives you fantastic control.

1. Baratza Forte AP (All-Purpose) – Flat Ceramic Burr Coffee Grinder

Author Rating:  (5 / 5)

So, here it is – our #1. the Baratza Forte AP (All-Purpose) – Flat Ceramic Burr Coffee Grinder.

Again, this is more on the expensive side, but if you’re looking for a premium product that will last for years to come, this one’s an excellent pick.

There are way too many features to list here but expect a compact design, solid macro and micro adjustment and intuitive control panel.

Still not convinced?

How about the 54 mm flat burr (made from ceramics), which provides a more precise grind?

In my opinion, this is one of the best commercial espresso grinders out there today!

And others definitely share my opinion so I am in good company.
